Carol 2015 R

There are different types of erotic images and content, sometimes called porn. As one example, there are beautifully filmed erotic art that captures details of the human body and human sexuality. These images for some provoke sexual arousal, but for others provoke admiration but not sexual pleasure. A friend of mine describes a different type of erotic image that she enjoys. She says, “I do see beauty in erotic art as it details the body. However, what arouses me is not a work of art, but rather a freeing of emotion...like the difference in elevator music vs a symphony hall.  I am aroused by seeing the expression of enjoyment and passion in a relationship. I enjoy watching erotic images where people are involved and pleased with one another.”

Carol is the story of two woman in the 1950’s that form a passionate and involved love relationship. Their love relationship is a beautiful example of emotions and pleasure once restricted but now freed. Both ladies are presented as mysterious and reserved, where the intensity of their emotions are kept hidden. It is through this relationship that these emotions are freed. Carol is an example of a film that presents the freeing of emotions of these two woman which makes their sexual relation very erotic.

The film has an explicit love scene between the two woman played by Cate Blanchett & Rooney Mara. I found the scene erotic and beautifully filmed. Cate Blanchett received a Best Actress nomination for her performance in the film. The sets and costumes are outstanding and reason alone to see this film. This is a very good film and I recommend it. 1/8/17
